The Patriotic Degree

Since its inception on February 22, 1900 the 4th. Degree of the Knights of Columbus has promoted patriotism and is
now commonly known as "The Patriotic Degree."

Our national flag is the most prominent symbol of Canada both at home and around the world. It is the proud symbol of
our heritage and our nationhood, and is revered by Canadians everywhere. The Maple Leaf Flag was official adopted as
our national flag on February 15, 1965. The white represents the snowy Canadian north, the red symbolizes the
Canadian blood shed during World War I and the Maple Leaf has been our national symbol for over 150 years.

As Canadian members of the Knights of Columbus we are proud to display our flag and support our country. Canada is a great nation and has been seen by many people around the world as a "land of opportunity." May we continue to be blessed by God and enjoy the many freedoms and opportunities that life in Canada offers us.
