A Short but Proud History

Archbishop Carney Assembly was formed when Master Doug Fox asked Sir Knight Tony Badowski to organize and form an Assembly on the north side of the Fraser River to cover the five parish communities of Port Moody, Coquitlam north of the Lougheed Highway, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. Sir Knights Tony Badowski, Larry Forseille, Germain Fortier and Tony Vernerey formed a committee that met on March 18 and April 22, 2001. On May 26 eight new Sir Knights received their honours in Abbotsford for the new Assembly and 37 Sir Knights living in the communities mentioned were transferred to the new Assembly, which was officially formed on that date. The first general meeting of Archbishop Carney Assembly was held on June 10, 2001 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Port Coquitlam.
